21 Things About Me

  1. I’m an ISFJ.
  2. My recent ancestors came from Scotland, Ireland, England, Poland/Lithuania, and Jersey (Channel Islands).
  3. I’ve touched the Stanley Cup.
  4. I own over 680 books.
  5. I drink Red Rose tea with milk and sugar every morning.
  6. I’m obsessed with my nephmew – my sister’s cat. (Yes, I said nephmew). He has his own Instagram because he’s adorable. He was also the only one that noticed our roof was leaking and notified us about it, so he’s basically the cat version of The Littlest Hobo.
  7. I used to play the clarinet, bass drum, snare drum and ukulele. I miss the ukulele the most.
  8. I didn’t learn to drive until I was 26.
  9. I’m a member of Alpha Phi women’s fraternity.
  10. I’ve only been on 4 rollercoasters in my entire life.
  11. I’ve kept a diary since I was 10 and write in it every day.
  12. I’m congenitally missing lower wisdom teeth and upper lateral incisors. I have two bridges replacing the incisors. My teenage years were filled with braces and retainers.
  13. I own over 80 notebooks. I prefer Leuchtturm1917 dot grid as well as cheap Hilroy 80 page notebooks.
  14. Fountain pens are awesome. I own 19 right now and have 10 bottles of ink and over 80 ink samples. I blame Goulet Pens for this lol.
  15. My laptop history includes:
    • 2000 – Compaq LTE Elite 486 (4/75 CXL I think) (Intel Pentium 486)
It had a trackball next to the screen and buttons on the back screen cover lol. This first time I ever mention having a laptop is 2000, so it must’ve been this one
    • Unsure – Toshiba Satellite Pro 4020CDT (Intel Pentium III)
With a whopping 300 Mhz processor and 64 MB of RAM. I can’t seem to pin down when I got this one, but I definitely used it for years.
    • 2006 – Toshiba A110-CF1 (Intel Celeron M 410 1.4 Ghz)
512 MB of RAM and a 60 GB HD was like going from a Model T to a Ferrari lol.
    • 2012 – Acer 5755G-6620 (Intel Core i5-2430M)
8 GB RAM and a 750 GB HD, this one had dedicated graphics too. It was stolen after a year and a half which is why the time between this one and the below one was so short.
    • 2013 – Toshiba S50D-A (AMD A-10 5745M)
8GB RAM and 1 TB HD. Between this one and now … specs have barely changed. This one was bricked by a Windows Update (fuck you, Windows Update).
    • 2018 – HP 15-da1007ca (Intel Core i5 8265U)
12GB RAM and a 1TB HD. I got it purely because the trackpad still allows one finger scrolling. Attn Windows Precision Trackpad: ONE FINGER SCROLLING. Get on it. So far it’s not bad … keyboard has raised lettering which is super weird and the trackpad is only okay. I miss Toshiba.
  16. I love the Grateful Dead, especially the Brent years. Some versions of my favourite songs:
    • Althea (1990-03-15 Capital Center/Without a Net)
    • Terrapin Station (Terrapin Station)
    • Tennessee Jed (1990-03-15 Capital Center)
    • Franklin’s Tower (1980-10-25 Radio City Music Hall/Dead Set)
    • Sunshine Daydream (1989-07-18 Alpine Valley)
    • Touch of Grey (In The Dark)
    • Cumberland Blues (1989-07-17 Alpine Valley)
    • Hell In A Bucket (1989-07-07 JFK/Crimson, White & Indigo)
    • Blow Away (1989-07-07 JFK/Crimson, White & Indigo)
    • a good Drums->Space
    • Not Fade Away->Going Down The Road Feeling Bad (1971-04-05 Hammerstein Ballroom/Skull & Roses)
    • New Minglewood Blues (1980-10-10 Warfield Theater/Dead Set)
    • Little Red Rooster (1980-10-29 Radio City Music Hall/Dead Set)
    • All Along the Watchtower (1987-10-02 Shoreline Amphitheater)
    • Man Smart, Woman Smarter (1989-07-12 RFK)
    • … I could go on, but I will spare you
  17. I’ve done Nanowrimo 16 times. 2016 was the only year I didn’t participate (I count it because I signed up but never wrote anything). I participated in 2018 and wrote a complete book – but it was a short at only 23,000 words (purposely lol) so I didn’t “win”.
  18. I’ve donated blood 26 times (one of those times was platelets and plasma). Thanks to some health issues, I can only donate about once a year now. I am also a registered organ donor. My dad became an organ recipient last year.
  19. I’ve been a fan of New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) since I was 13. Joe girl, Jon tendencies.
  20. My favourite authors include Tess Gerritsen, Lisa Gardner, Kathy Reichs, Dana Stabenow, Stephen King and Douglas Coupland.
  21. I knit, loom knit, crochet, sew and cross stitch. Basically, if it’s crafty, gimme.
